As Philips and Tropicana chill out near the North Pole, Thomson Reuters is trotting off in the other direction—launching a new marketing contest for the launch its Eikon financial platform in which it’s crowdsourcing taglines about the future of the financial industry, and offering the winner a trip to Antarctica. And not just a tourist trip. The lucky individual will earn a spot in the bad-ass truck above for a very special journey next year: an attempt by a Thomson Reuters team to set a new Guinness world record for the fastest overland journey to the South Pole. The contest is being hosted here. You’re asked to fill in the sentence “More _______, less _______” to describe what you’d like to see in the new era of financial markets. The video below explains more about the South Pole trip. It talks a bit about Roald Amundsen, the Norwegian explorer who led the first successful expedition to the South Pole between 1910 and 1912. The Thomson Reuters team will attempt to beat the current overland record of 2 days, 21 hours and 21 minutes. Descendants of Robert Scott need not apply.
